Sports Medicine Acupuncture
Sports medicine acupuncture specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal issues, enhancement of athletic performance, and rehabilitation or prevention of injuries.
Injury Treatment: Sports medicine acupuncture is commonly used to treat acute and chronic sports injuries, including sprains, strains, tendinitis, and muscular imbalances. It helps reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling, while promoting faster healing and recovery.
Performance Enhancement: Acupuncture can help improve athletic performance by enhancing muscle function, increasing circulation, and promoting better flexibility and range of motion. It also helps in maintaining overall balance and preventing injuries.
Balance: Most treatment plans will begin with an assessment of muscle and joint function to identify imbalances or weaknesses that can lead to pain or potential injuries. Each session will then incorporate these findings with the treatment of trigger points, motor points, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments in the pursuit of rehabilitation and optimized physical performance.
At Flex Point, we offer specialized acupuncture treatments designed to restore balance and promote healing within the body. By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture can enhance circulation, reduce inflammation, and support overall wellness.
Whether you’re looking to improve athletic performance, recover from an injury, or simply maintain optimal health, our personalized acupuncture sessions provide a holistic approach to help you achieve your goals.

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body, often referred to as acupuncture points, to promote healing and balance. The process involves inserting thin, sterile needles into these points, which are located along pathways known as ‘meridians’.
According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), these meridians are channels through which the body’s vital energy, or “Qi” flows. When the flow of Qi is disrupted or imbalanced, it can lead to pain, illness, or other health issues. By stimulating the appropriate acupuncture points, a practitioner aims to restore the proper flow of Qi, thereby alleviating symptoms and supporting the body’s natural healing processes.
From a modern scientific perspective, acupuncture has been found to work by stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissues. This stimulation may increase blood flow to the affected areas and trigger the release of endorphins - the body’s natural painkillers. Acupuncture can also influence the autonomic nervous system, helping to regulate bodily functions and reduce stress.

Some patients may begin to see changes immediately, while some conditions can take a bit longer to noticeably improve.
For acute conditions, like recent injuries, headaches, or minor pains, some patients have reported relief after just one or two sessions.
However, for a chronic condition like ongoing stress, chronic pain, or digestive problems, it may take several treatments to notice a significant improvement. Typically patients will start to see benefits after 4-6 sessions, though it may take longer depending on the complaint.
Every body is different, and our goal is to come up with an appropriate treatment plan that works best for you and your body!

Nope!
We like to say that acupuncture should be painless, but not sensationless.
The needles used are extremely thin, and often are not felt much at all during insertion. Once in place, it is common to experience a deep or dull ache, warmth, heaviness, or a sensation of pressure around the needle site.
Many people find their session to be deeply relaxing, and will often doze off for a quick nap during treatment.
If you have any concerns at all regarding your comfort during treatment, please do not hesitate to communicate with your practitioner at any time.
